A brilliant end to a busy year

After an amazing autumn of interviews, we’re finishing 2019 on a high note.

We’ve traversed the breadth of the UK in the last few months, listening to women’s stories and experiences from all walks of fishing family life.

Stopping in Devon, Cornwall, Kent and Norfolk, we’ve been very lucky to meet with participants from a broad range of age groups and backgrounds.

We’ve spoken to women who sell fish, who own fishing businesses or actively fish at sea, and heard from daughters and partners of fishing families.

It has been a very insightful and interesting process; listening to and documenting the many varied stories of women with connection to the industry.

As this fieldwork comes to an end, we would like to thank everyone who participated in the research – thank you for taking part!

The coming months will be dedicated towards making sense of all the rich data we’ve collected. We’ll be using a technique called ‘thematic analysis’ to do this, and will begin writing up our early findings soon.

Watch this space to find out more.

Happy holidays and see you in the new year!
